Recart lifted the Excellence in Customer Service trophy at the 2017 Nottinghamshire East Midlands Chamber Business Awards, held at Nottingham’s Colwick Hall on September 15. During 2016, the qualification period for the award, Recart achieved ISO 9001 accreditation, a 49% increase in turnover from export clients, a 30% improvement in CV-to-interview success, and a 200 percent year-on-year profit growth.
Specialising in tailored recruitment solutions for permanent and contractual hiring needs on a local, national, and global basis, Recart works with some of the world’s most successful, industry-leading engineering brands, such as Rolls-Royce, GE, Jaguar Land Rover, Toyota, Hyundai, JAE, Welding Alloys, and Lincoln Electric. The East Midlands Chamber, which has more than 4,000 business members, is the second largest chamber of commerce in England. The customer service award recognised “industry-leading standards of service and innovation around customer experience”.
“It’s really pleasing to win this award,” said Lee Bown, Recart Founder and Managing Director. “It’s recognition that we’re doing things right and people are noticing. More and more companies are recognising the need, in the current climate, for a different kind of recruitment: one that listens, rather than preaches – a partnership, rather than a sales transaction. It’s a highly competitive, candidate-driven market. Relying on, say, a job advert, or the three cheapest agencies, just isn’t enough if you want to recruit the best candidates to meet specific needs. The cost of a bad hire to a business far outweighs the saving ‘achieved’ from securing agencies that drop to a fixed fee or tempt you with a low fee.
Our customer service approach includes interviewing clients as well as candidates; it’s the only way to dig under the surface – to really understand – so you have the right material necessary to target the right professionals and ask the right questions. We work exclusive, retained assignments with some of the biggest engineering brands out there. Clients are choosing to use us exclusively, in batches, rather than several agencies – because we deliver a high quality of service and the positive results to match. We are becoming increasingly recognised for this, from which we take a great amount of satisfaction.”
Recart was shortlisted in four categories at the Chamber Awards on the back of the most successful year in the business’s 14-year history. The business’s recruitment process features consultation with clients at the job take-on stage, in-depth interviews with candidates, a role and company-tailored cover letter accompanying each CV, and editorial and video tutorials to assist candidates’ interview preparation. Recart’s retained recruitment assignments feature a 100% guarantee of fulfilment.
“Contingency recruitment is failing in a job market saturated by agencies and click-to-apply job websites,” said Mr Bown, who won the Entrepreneur of the Year honour at the 2016 Nottinghamshire East Midlands Chamber Business Awards. “Some people are scared about retained at first, because of the money up front, but it’s actually a smarter way to work. If you have multiple agencies on contingency, they know they have a smaller percentage of filling the role, so they adapt their resources and represent your business accordingly. It’s a lower quality service. With retained, you have a dedicated, tailored recruitment service that digs far deeper than job advert responses or active candidates whose CVs are already in the public domain. It’s a service, from recruitment specialists, which proactively understands each business’s particular needs and nuances. That’s how you clinch the best professionals and the best prospects, ahead of a client’s competitors.”
